# Attribution

This report is not ready yet — it is parked in the Coming soon group. The page opens and shows numbers, but those numbers were not built for a budget decision. Traffic acquisition and the per-order attribution snapshot answer the same questions today.

## Why it is still Coming soon

In the side navigation, **Attribution** sits under the **Coming soon** group with a **Soon** badge next to it. The page is not locked — anyone who can read reports can open it and see numbers. But four real limits in the calculation mean you should not put budget behind them yet:

- **Only `purchase` counts as a conversion.** Revenue is summed from events with that name and a `value`. Your own key events — sign-ups, calls, form submissions — never enter the calculation.
- **Currencies are not separated.** Values are added together regardless of currency and shown with a `$` prefix. If you take both rials and dollars, the total means nothing. The E-commerce report handles this correctly and reports revenue split by currency.
- **A path is a list of distinct channels, not a list of touches.** Direct touches are dropped, and if a user returns twice through the same channel it appears once in the path.
- **Anything outside the selected range does not exist.** Change the range at the top of the page and credit moves. Each read also covers at most 5,000 converting users.

## What the page shows if you open it

Four model buttons across the top: **First**, **Last**, **Linear** and **Position**. **Last** is the default. Below them: **Total value**, the **Revenue credit by channel** chart, the **Channel credit** table, a **Model comparison (credited value)** table that puts all four models side by side, and **Top conversion paths**.

Under the position model, forty per cent of the value goes to the first channel, forty per cent to the last, and twenty per cent is spread across the channels in between — with no middle channel, that twenty per cent is split between first and last.

> **This page is not yet a source of record**
>
> While the Soon badge is on this item, keep these numbers out of a management report and out of any decision to pause a campaign. The three sources in the next section are dependable today.

## Where to read channel credit today

- **[Traffic acquisition](analytics/reports/traffic-acquisition)** gives you channel, source, medium and campaign with their key events and revenue. It is session-scoped: a session is credited to the touch that started it, not to the user's lifetime first touch — so a returning visitor is not pinned to the wrong campaign.
- **The order attribution snapshot** is the most precise thing available today. When you send an order from your server, AdPix freezes the channel, source, campaign, first and last touch and days to conversion once for that order, and the customer's later behaviour never rewrites it. Its model is last non-direct. Setup and how to read it are in [Server-side tracking](analytics/collect/server-side-tracking).
- **[Marketing Mix and Lift](analytics/marketing/mmm-vs-lift)** answer the question *what happens if I cut this channel's budget*. Neither counts touches, and together they cover the portfolio decision that touch-based attribution is usually asked to make.

> **Attribution is computed on read**
>
> There is no reprocessing job. A touch's channel is decided from the channel rules at the moment the report is read, so any change to those rules reclassifies all history immediately — in Traffic acquisition and here alike. Channel definitions are a global setting and only an AdPix platform administrator can edit them.

## Frequently asked questions

### Why is my attribution table empty?

Because this report counts only events named `purchase` that carry a numeric `value`. The key events you defined yourself — sign-ups, calls, form submissions — are not counted, so a property that records no online sales sees an empty table.

### Can I quote these numbers?

Not in a report to management or in a decision to stop a campaign. While the Soon badge is on this item, use Traffic acquisition for channel credit and the order's own attribution snapshot for a specific sale.

### Why does channel credit move when I change the date range?

Because each user's path is rebuilt only from touches inside the selected range. A touch that happened before the range does not exist, so the First model says one thing on a short range and something else on a long one.
